If you're skinny like me, it's better standing up. On my back and stretched, there's maybe three inches between the surface of my abs and my spine. Sure it hurts a lot, but the sensation of a fist sinking in deep isn't quite there because the fist can't do it. Impact while lying down doesn't drive out as much air either. A knee dropped in the gut does drive out quite a bit of breath
It's also more satisfying for me to be doubled over repeatedly than to just lay there and take it with little observable reaction, even if it does hurt more that way.

Laying down, your abs take the full force of the punch - unlike standing against a wall where you are not technically locked to the wall and you are usually 4-6" from the wall where there is some "give" and the punches aren't anywhere's near as devastating. Laying down on the back is your best position for a LONG gut destruction workover.

I have a sadistic friend who ties me down spread eagle on his torture table. He puts a pillow under the small of my back and pulls my arms above my head. In this position it is very hard to keep my gut flexed, so each shot of his fists goes deep into my intestines. I find this position the most effective for keeping my gut unflexed.
Best is strung up. Once was strung up in a ring, hands roped to rafter overhead for 3 rounds and then worked over after a plug was stuck up my ass. If it came out, 3 more rounds of punishment/gut work and head shots. Fortunately I lasted the 3 rounds of non stop working over. Another time was in a basement, laying on wrestling mats for a pounding and then stood up, hands behind my back for another working over.
That is SUPER hot. Would love that workover. Can't find anyone strong enough to cave in my gut. Had a couple of weaklings try it - got bored after 30 minutes

I prefer laying, on his back with something hard, plus cushions, under his lower back, to force him to arch his body and stretch his gut muscles for maximum impact.
That position, plus his arms stretched over his head, is exactly what will maximize impact. It is very hard to flex in that position, and the back arch with the cushions keeps his gut wide open.
