Pro wrestling strikes

Brit-pro wrestling from the WoS days saw a number of permitted strikes, one of which I don’t know the name of
Anyone know it’s proper name? (Or at least the late Kent Walton call it?)
It was an uppercut strike with the bicep or upper arm to the opponent’s jaw. Great for dazing an opponent.
Other strikes were forearm smash, the occasional chop and booting was permitted if strike made with sole of the foot only.
Nowadays the “bitch slap” to the chest if a favourite but that bicep uppercut still used. What’s its name guys?
Perhaps it was a variation of the forearm smash?

You're halfway right, the move you are referring to is the European Uppercut

Yep. Look up WOS. They used them a lot. Especially. Findlay

It is called a forearm smash in WoS bouts.

Good point; but this one uses the bicep in an uppercut actiy as opposed to the forearm. Or is that simply to trick the crowd into thinking it’s the harder, bonier forearm that’s connecting?
I see most forearms connecting (or made to look like) with the cheekbone. Whereas the “European Uppercut” is delivered to the jawline. Occasionally I’ve seen it given to the groin, mostly in women’s matches when the striker is on all fours with her tormentor standing over her.

Thanks BigT! Would be better if guys agreed to those strikes instead of over relying on body punches in a match. Would make for good stand-up action too.

If anyone knows of a clip in which a KO - or near enough- is caused by one if these, let us know

It's not WOS but I do find Cesaro uses that move quite effectively and has KO'd a few of his opponents using it.

In the old Brit Pro, did it really connect with the jaw? I always thought it did but if you look in slow motion, I think it's still the chest but made to look like the jaw. Tom Tyrone uses as does Chic Cullen. I'm sure there will be someone on here who uses it who can say for sure how to do it.

Like the magician’s sleight of hand - there is naturally sleight of arm in pro wrestling
