No holds Barred Bouts. Your learned opinions please.

In your honest opinion are you minded to agree that a 'no holds barred' bout evens out the odds against opponents regardless of skill, qualification and experience ?

Not at all. Some people are better at fighting than others. Training, mental attitude, physical size, speed, agility, knowledge and experience all count. Why would it be otherwise?

Even if the match is not scored according to a specific discipline, a trained and experienced fighter is going to us his or her knowledge somehow. E.g. a street fist fight between a trained boxer and a brawler is going to show up in how the trained guy manages distance and timing.

Were an individual, entering a ring to engage in a no holds barred, experience would undoubtedly help, but were it his first time and he possessed no skill in fighting and was totally unqualified to fight for any number of reasons, including size in comparison to his advancing opponent, it is just possible, though I would grant you unlikely, that fear (clearly one aspect of Ironbull's reference to mental attitude) might catapult this man to an extraordinary feat. And, depending on how vicious his inclination and brutal his response, he might even win such a contest. There is, in short, an inherent danger when approaching someone who is cornered and unable to escape.

As to the overall method of fighting, a no holds barred leaves a great deal of choice to the participants. Dirty fighting may well occur as the intensity of aggression increases. Then, by definition, eye gouging, strikes to the groin, biting and kicking, and potentially lethal shots aimed at an exposed throat would be game, assuming these had not been ruled out by mutual understanding, and actually observed with honor.

Not at all. In many cases that might widen the gulf. Things like skill, size, conditioning and experience may become even more valuable and critical.

The only exception may be if you have someone with a high level experience in one thing, sort of a one-trick-pony, and you open things up and no longer limiting the rules to the one thing they excel at... they can lose their advantage over someone who is less skilled at that one thing, but more well rounded over-all. For example a high level grappler who has no experience with boxing or kickboxing (or taking those kind of shots) who is put up against someone who is moderately skilled in all areas of his game.

Either way having high skill and good training/conditioning in the most areas will help someone a lot over-all, and if someone has no practical experience, but just talks and fantasizes about it, there is basically nothing that will "even things out" against someone with much higher skill short of some massive physical advantage.

If everything is legal then the only thing that matters is how hard you can hit/kick and how crazy you are. 🤣
