I would recommend consulting with a trainer, tell him/her what your fitness goals, mentioning your back issues, and let them show you the best exercises to do, and the correct way to do them to avoid injuries.

Maybe. If you find the right instruction it is far better than your average trainer (I see trainers make mistakes all the time). So beware.

I prefer the resource I provided. There are, of course, others, amid the vast quantity of bullshit in the internet.

****Oh one more thing***** again, written out long in my blog, but dont neglect diet. proper nutrition is as important to what most people want ot achieve as lifting. Maybe more. And rest is not far behind.

Hello I don't know if I am in the correct group... But I try 😂

I am thinking about to change from swimming to gym, but I never entered in a gym before, do you have any advices for the training and how to start? Would I need a trainer? Gym training is good for back problems? I ask because from when I started to swim I feel much better with my back also during matches and I would not like to risk to have some joints or back problems!

good morning. Complex subject! I agree with Armen that compound exercises are best - maybe period, but certainly when starting out. Now, as to the back. It depends on what's wrong with your back. You have to be VEARY careful, including with two of the best compound exercises_ the squat and the deadlift which can damage already hurt lower backs (if, for example, you have damaged discs). If on the other hand you have muscle weakness (most sitters do) they will help.

I really like dips, pull-ups, hanging core work. bench presses are great if you do them right (few do) and your shoulders are OK (mine aren't - sports injury).

Start light and slow and gradually build. <– read those words about 20 times :-)

Read my blog.

Look up "AthleanX" on YouTube. Ignore the programs, but watch Jeff's videos, search for vids for beginners. He's the trainers for the New York Mets.

Read my blog. But turn down the intensity.

Don't abandon swimming - its a great, low impact, cardio and strengthening activity.

A beginner in gym should do compound movements that target different muscle groups in each exercise.
you can search these compound movements on youtube.
moreover the abs exercises and lower back exercises made me feel nice at lower back.
this is what i can advise
🙂
