Got one myself back when I was younger and naïve. I have gotten used to it. Most of the general public and people I meet ignore it as they might think I was born with it. Although some in the know do want to talk to me about it (e.g. Rugby players and other guys into contact sports).
Cauliflower ears can happen some guys view them as a badge of honour. If you want to avoid them you can wear head gear designed to protect the ears. If you did get one then as it is a collection of blood in the ear its important to have them drained aseptically (using a needle to pierce the collection and squeeze the blood out) to prevent infection. As if it is allowed to harden you stuck with it.
