Sumo

Practicing sumo is not just pushing yourself, it is an art and involves preparation and ceremonies that make it not just a simple fighting match between men.
The overweight of the riyiki is also very important, the body mass is decisive.
Maybe we are more to enjoy and practice Turkish wrestling, I see it more suitable for and more of a more general practice

Saw a U-S Judo competition on TV. I am curious, when did they start adding to the traditional gear?? Some of them were wearing shorts with the judo belt.

Assuming you are talking about sumo:

In amatuer sumo, the International Sumo Federation has been allowing the option to wear biker shorts under there mawashi (the sumo belt) ever since the federation was established. It was put forth so that other more countries could participate in the sport. Some countries/religions are forbidden to show certain parts of there body in public. So if that allowance for shorts was not put in, less countries would partake in it.

There are some who will wear shorts, but there will be others who will go traditionally. it is all a matter of preference

This is pretty old but I have practiced and competed in sumo wrestling. If you were still wanting to speak on it I would be happy to talk on the subject

It *DOES NOT* mean that anyone who is interested in sumo is a chubby chaser. There are plenty of sumo wrestlers who are not the big heavys, but muscular wrestlers that are not 300 pounds.

Yeah I know, I do plan to compete in sumo wrestling internationally in the amateur leagues and go to several sumo competitions in the US. I kinda wanted some opinion on why so many people put "sumo" as an interest on here. I know several clubs around the US that practice sumo on weekly basis and hoping to join one of them soon.

And thanks for the input!

When anybody puts "Sumo" on their profile, does that mean their more of a "chubby chaser" or do they seriously want to try true sumo wrestling?

You don't have to be big to do sumo. Though of course if you are up against a bigger guy, every lb helps.

In my case, I'd like to try it as its a different way of wrestling. Differnt approach and different skills.

But then I pretty much like to try everything once ;)

I started some Googling on Sumo wrestling and it interests me a little bit. Is there anyone who has actually done sumo? I would be interested in chatting about it. Thanks! Jim
