Makes no big difference to me. As hard as it is to find guys to wrestle, I wear "every which way including loose."

I don't know about other combat forms, but in Pro wrestling, there is a huge difference between Speedos and trunks. And it has to do with the crotch rise.

For my size, trunks have a 20 -22 inch rise (sometimes 25) so the draw string strikes me at my waist or slightly above. Speedos strike way below the waist. Back in the 50's and 60's men's swimsuits were more modest had a much higher rise similar to wrestling trunks. But competition swimming and fashion changed.

Speedos are very popular in underground private pro sessions for obvious reasons. But I do see public Pro matches where the talent wears increasingly lower rise trunks. If you have a great physique, they can be very flattering, and showcasing is a big part of Pro.

Okay, well that makes sense. I couldn't really find a difference other than maybe the materials, and those don't seem like they would make a significant difference. Thanks for the information!

Speedos can be removed quicker.

Is there any actual difference between swim briefs/speedos and wrestling trunks?

I don't like the idea of wearing attire created for swimming to wrestle in, so I'd prefer wrestling trunks. However, being that custom designs cost so much, I don't know if it's worth it to order some, especially since I simply want two stripes just like good ol' Mick McMichael's (as attached). I've seen some swim briefs with this design (outside of the US), so I figure I could just hunt for them.

(And no, I don't want adidas 3-stripes; I detest logos and branding on clothing! I'm an artist, of course I'm particular and obsessive.) 갤러리 사진을 보기 위해서는 로그인해야 합니다.

There are plenty of firms that will make what you want at a reasonable price. Mine were made for me to my own design and measurements at a cost of £30 which I think equates to about $45. Let me know if you want his details - don;t think I can promote him without breaching the site rules re commercial posts. The material is much heavier than swim trunks and so more modest (and you can wear a jock underneath without it being visible) without losing flexiblity.

Thanks for the great pic of Mick McMicahel - what a stud.
